I hate stupid arrogant people. I mean they really annoy me. I'm sitting in the conference about web2.0 and the morning session was awesome. I gave a talk about web services and why they're good for lots of people. Then a dude gave a great talk about virtualization. After that a guy gave a hard core talk about hacking cellphones and PostGIS to make location services. (Awesome awesome talk!) And now comes the jackass. This dude from some unknown feed aggregator tool developer who's main claim to fame is that he wrote "8 books in the last 2 years". In my opinion if you have that much time to write books it means you're not doing anything of merit to write about. He's explaining what web surfing means to the Japan Unix Society. It's getting embarrassing. I had really high hopes for his talk since the title equated to something about integrating web enabled technologies and "old school" technologies. I am very disappointed. I wish people had a moderation interface. Oh wait, they do. bitchSlap()

and my sorry ass when my fancy subaru died from being too fancy.
it was a good truck and I miss it. It did not die... No, old trucks do not die. I just had to sell it to it's next loving owner when I left the country.
What my forebearers always told me is that Japan was this strange little country where everything was small and dammit.. they like it that way .. small, compact, dull, expensive, uncomfortable, uphill both ways and that's the way it is .. like fish and rice!
Well, today I spit in the face of Hirohito, said screw the damn tatami mats, went to Ikea ( recently opened in Yokohama ) and bought me a damn couch. It's big ( for Japan ) it's far off the ground ( what so good about sitting on the ground anyway ) and it's orange. Take that wabi-sabi.
